The Silvian Ist Infantry Division
fights for survival and a way inland
at Hell Beach, the most fortified
sector of Operation Sharkstrike.
Surviving Hukular guns sweep the
approaches despite the opening
bombardment.

Landing craft unload into shellfire.
Companies arrive scattered along
the shoreline, and several groups
remain pinned behind obstacles or
the sea wall. Engineers and infantry
work forward under fire while medics
carry wounded men toward whatever
cover they can find.

Small parties reach the base of the
bluffs and attack isolated defensive
positions. These gains do not yet
amount to an open route for the
division’s vehicles and following
troops. Naval fire continues against
identified strongpoints, but smoke
and broken communications
complicate support.

Divisional reports describe severe
losses without offering a verified
total. The First Division still holds
scattered strips of shore as darkness
approaches. Hell Beach remains
contested, and the defenders retain
positions commanding the exits.
