The Silvian Ist Infantry Division
opens a narrow exit from Hell Beach
after days of fighting among the coastal
defenses. Infantry secures adjoining
posibons long enough for engineers to

egin moving vehicles through the
damaged route.

The opening allows limited
reinforcement and supply traffic
beyond the shore. It es not mean
the beach is secure. Hukular guns
continue striking the landing area, and
counterattacks threaten the shoulders
of the passage. Wounded men move
seaward while fresh troops and
ammunition struggle in the opposite
direction.

At Yullor, the 18th Marine Brigade
and 15th Infantry Division defend their
joined foothold. At Garamor, Hestunian
and Commonwealth formations
continue widening their positions.

No continuous Allied front yet links
all three main beaches.

Sharkstrike now has surviving
lodgments on the Hukular mainland,
but the majority of its nine-million-man
commitment is still required in
following formations and support.
The immediate struggle is to turn
contested landing grounds into
positions capable of sustaining
the invasion.
