What this explains
These dates describe different operational achievements. Opening a front is not the same as breaking an enemy defensive system. A breakthrough is not the same as securing a broad, supplied corridor. Keeping the sequence separate gives the intervening fighting, engineering and counterattacks their proper historical weight.
